But the fun doesn’t have to stop there.

You can make a whole day of your salon experience. There’s plenty you can do in Winnipeg – even with perfectly manicured hands. Whether it’s date night, a day out with friends, or even treating yourself to a weekend of pampering, here are some of the things we love to do in Winnipeg after a trip to the nail salon. 

Get something good to eat

There are tons of incredible restaurants in our city. We wanted to shout out a few of our favourites. We opted for (mostly) non-finger foods, so you can keep your nails looking pristine, even after you eat your plate clean. 

Parcel Pizza: No one will blame you for eating pizza with a fork and knife here at Parcel – especially after you’ve had your nails done! (They won’t judge you if you do, though). The atmosphere here is chic, the food is creative and delicious, the cocktails are delightful, and the friendly staff will probably notice your beautiful new nails. What’s not to love?

Two Hands: This restaurant on Sherbrooke serves delicious, beautiful food – almost as beautiful as your two hands will look after your manicure! With a rotating menu (right now they’ve got a fancy take on ice cream sandwiches), beer and wine pairings (they’ve got a brewery on location), and an upscale ambiance, your fancy new nails will feel right at home. Great vegan and vegetarian options here, too! 

Gaijin Izakaya: We just had to shout out Gaijin, one of our favourite restaurants here in Transcona. They’re just blocks away from our nail salon on Regent! We love the casual atmosphere and the delicious Japanese fare, ranging from ramen to sushi and more. Plus, you’ll get to show everyone how refined you are by using chopsticks in your perfectly manicured nails – classy!

Deer + Almond: Don’t worry – this place doesn’t only serve deer and almonds. It’s one of our favourite restaurants in the Exchange, and you’ll be treated to a four-course meal. This spot is upscale, and you’ll fit right in with your beautiful new manicure. Great for a date night! 

Aroma Bistro: Our favourite Chinese fusion restaurant in the city. The vibes here are quiet and laid-back. You’ve got to try their red chilli oil wontons. This is another spot where you’ll be able to show off your nails and your chopstick skills all at once.  

Transcona and Kildonan

There are some beautiful places to visit right here in Transcona. Come get your nails done, then make a day of it! 

Kildonan Place: You’re already here – why not go on a shopping spree? Drop by Modern Man or Revolutions for a new haircut to go along with your new nails. Catch a movie or a live show and play some games at Junxion! Get a coffee from Second Cup, and pick up some clothes at Marshalls. Browse some of the jewellery they have over at Michael Hill – you can even pick out a ring to go with your new manicure.  We love being here, and we think you’ll love it, too. 

Transcona BIZ Market: Looking to shop local, out in the open air? If it’s summertime, you’re in luck – you can check out Transcona’s unique local market. You’ll find handmade goods here you can’t find anywhere else in the city, from jewellery to complement your manicure to delicious macarons – and everything in between! 

Club Regent Casino: Love to gamble? Club Regent Casino has slots, card games, and more. Don’t love to gamble? They’ve also got live shows – you can usually catch a different show every week! We miss the giant walkthrough aquarium, but Club Regent is still one of Transcona’s premier destinations. 

Go to a live event!

Live Sports: With The Jets, The Bombers, The Goldeyes, The Valour, and so many other sports teams here in Winnipeg, you can catch a game any time of the year. Show your support by getting your favourite team’s colours on your nails – or get a bit of nail art and have their logo emblazoned on your nails! 

The Park Theatre: With movies, live concerts, dance parties, and so much more, there’s always something interesting going on at the Park Theatre. Just a heads up – there are a lot of punk shows at this place. We recommend avoiding the pit if you can – your new nails could be lethal! 

Spend time in nature

The Leaf/Assiniboine Park: There’s so much to do at Assiniboine Park – the Leo Mol Sculpture Gardens, the Zoo, and even a leisurely stroll around the Park have a lot to offer. We wanted to highlight the newest part of the Park – the Leaf, a botanical garden. Get some flowery nail art during your manicure, and you’ll fit right in! Plus, there’s a tasty new restaurant called The Gather – so you can go for dinner and a stroll!

The Forks: We know it’s a cliché – but it’s a cliché for a reason. Go shopping at the Forks Trading Market, or check out the Antique Mall for throwback jewellery to match your new nails. Grab a bite to eat, or a glass of wine or beer at the Commons. You can even play pinball – just be sure not to slap the machine too hard with your nails!

Kildonan Park: There are plenty of parks to shout out: Birds Hill, Harbour View – but we wanted to shout out the park that has the same name as the mall we love so dearly. You can catch a show at Rainbow Stage. Visit the Witch’s Hut! Enjoy the beautiful trails and gardens – it’s a truly great spot in Kildonan.
